Press Release
An International French Cup
Owner of the title for 2 years, Cyril Moussilmani from Marseilles (3rd place in the PWA Slalom World Championships this year) will be here during the Speed Classic 2010 and ready to fight for his first place and try to improve his record (38.19 knots in 2008) on the Napoleon’s Beach. Among the favourites of this new edition we will find Pascal Boulanger and Benoît Moussilmani, 2nd and 3rd place in 2009, Pascal Toselli, Cédric Bordes, David Garrel as well as Fanny Aubet in the women category (French Windsurf Vice-Champion).
The Speed Classic is taking this year an international dimension thanks to the participation of Bjorn Dunjerbeck from Sweden, many times World Champion in the speed discipline. Anders Bringdal, the Swedish legend who has recently participated to the establishment of the world speed record with the Hydroptère team will be present too. The battle is going to be amazing on the water!
Place of honour for the kitesurfers
Barely world speed record holders, kitesurfers are invited to race in the event to measure theirs maximum’s speeds with the windsurfers on the Port St Louis du Rhone’s run.
The local kitesurfer, Alex Caizergues, first man who crossed the 100km/h in kitesurf will come to defend its colours with the faster women on the water: Charlotte Consorti. Six other kitesurfers will participate to the event including Jérôme Bila, Sylvain Hoceini and Sylvain Maurin.
Optimistics weather forecast!
The mistral is announced in the beginning of the week, and promises us idealistic racing conditions to launch this French Speed Cup. Just follow the event in live on the internet to check the stopwatch!
